Riffing on Chartreuse
Variations of the color green have been lurking about in my brain, probably since Pantone announced the Color of the Year 2017 ("Greenery"); so I guess that little marketing gimmick has worked its magic on my subconscious. (How exactly do they decide the color for a given year? Is this based on anything scientific, or is it just a bunch of people in a room flipping through color chips and laughing about how they control the world? I suspect it's pretty close to the latter.)
At any rate, I played around with my closet below—using my chartreuse Weekday sweater as a linchpin—so I hope you can enjoy the slight entertainment value that affords. The only way I like to wear strong color is if it's very balanced with unexpected neutrals (or moody/somber colors) and/or patterns — and only if that strong color is a somewhat offbeat choice in the first place. Too much color makes me feel like my three small nieces dressed me on a sugar high after watching a princess movie. [Shudder.]
